Apartment Floor Strength Aquarium
Just make sure it can t turn over and you are good.
Apartment floor strength aquarium. I was on the 3rd floor of my old apartment complex and have a 55 gallon aquarium with a heavy stand. But i am wondering if i need to be worried about deflection sagging of the floor over time. Is this wall load bearing. If you do decide to increase the strength of your floor just keep in mind that this is best done before the aquarium is placed on the floor and the floor has deflected under the load.
I am considering a 60 gallon aquarium but suspect that the weight is more than the construction will tolerate. Support the floor under an aquarium video. Why wouldn t it hold my aquarium. I am planning on placing a 210 gallon aquarium in my second floor apartment.
It will be on the stand that came with it. The way i think of it is if it supports all my furniture. Since all the apartment are the same lay out i used a stud finder on my ceiling to find the floor. Both apartments below and above me are exactly the same with the same wall divider.
1 gallon of water weighs 8 34 lbs therefore 150 gallons to fill a tank would weigh 1251 lbs in water alone. How can i find out how much weight the floor of my manufactured home can bear. The aquarium probably would stay in the same place for a few years. The aquarium will weigh about 400lbs spread over about 570 square inches.
Hi i recently purchased a 75 gal. Stand weighs close to 300lbs itself so i think you are good with what ever size tank you wanted to do. As it stands i have a 90 gal salt 40 gal sump 30 gal cichlid with 10 gal refugium and 40 gal fw community. Thinking somewhere around 100 150 gallons sump refugium.
Im on 16th floor concrete floors and tanks are up against outside wall of apartment main apartment hallway on other side of wall which is concrete also. Thinking about turning my spare bedroom into a tank room and looking at bigger tanks. Let s say that you fill that 180 gallon tank with water and then later get concerned. There is a wall at divides the den from the dinning area.
If you intend to furnish a 150 gallon tank in your upstairs bedroom it may be necessary to add floor support or hire a contractor prior to the tank installation. Looking to see how big of a tank you have and what floor your on. The floor seems very solid but then again we are on the third floor of the apartment complex. I have concern about if it will be too heavy when filled up for the floor to handle it.
I figure i should have no worries about the strength of the floor. I can see their being not allowed in some apartments but i wonder just how much thought was put into such a ban. We live on the thrid floor of an apartment complex built within the last 3 years.
