Area Rug Under Full Size Bed
5 x 8 full size bed this rug works best when placed horizontally under the bottom two thirds of a full sized bed the rug exposed in front and on both sides.
Area rug under full size bed. Rug sizes under queen bed. Partially under the bed. For a full or queen size bed you can use a 5 8 6 9 or 8 10 rug beneath the bed placed longways depending on how much floor space you want covered. Extend the rug 12 to 18 inches around a bed for an area rug to look balanced under a bed it should be large enough to extend beyond the sides of the bed at least 18 inches for a king or queen bed and at least 12 inches for a full or twin bed.
A 6 foot by 9 foot area rug fits the bed a nightstand and a bench at the foot of the bed. 8 x 10 or 9 x 12 queen size bed follow the same general suggestions with larger rugs and a queen size bed. Area rugs that are between 5 feet wide and 8 feet wide will have to be placed in front of your nightstands starting at the middle of your bed if you want extra room past the foot of your bed. This means that the ideal rug pad for a rug will be 2 shorter and narrower than the rug.
If the room is large the rug should extend even further out from the bed but it should never extend out less. A good rule of thumb for choosing the right size rug pad is to leave 1 of rug overhang on all sides of the rug pad. Keep in mind that rug pads can easily be cut to size. Here are some of my guidelines for determining the right size rug for the bedroom as well as placement.
A full size bed or double bed measures 54 inches wide by 75 inches long. A 4 foot by 6 foot or a 5 foot by 8 foot area rug fits the bottom two thirds of the bed only. To be able to anchor your area rug under your nightstands and queen bed your rug should be at least 9 feet wide. For example the perfect rug pad for a 5 x 8 rug is 4 10 x 7 10.
When it comes to the bedroom sizing really depends on the size of your bed. The textures are playing with each other. The bed is with the legs so that vacuuming and cleaning are easier under a flat weave area rug. The general rule for placement of rugs under beds is that a rug should extend 12 to 18 inches from the sides and foot of the bed 12 inches for a twin or full bed and 18 inches for a queen or king bed.
Loloi explains that the ideal size for a queen bed is an 8 by 10 while a king would look better with a 9 by 12 rug.
