The modern hard wax oils dry very quickly as the last thing a client wants is to install a high quality wood floor that gets damaged by workmen only to have to have it sanded back and re finished.

This process is not difficult though and does not require a trained professional. Unfinished wood must never be cleaned with water. Yes you can apply oil based polyurethane in about a week after application if you absolutely need to.
Hard wax oil floor maintenance in addition to cleaning your floors you should regularly apply a maintenance oil like duchâteau maintenance oil. With an oiled floor it would be very easy to rectify simply by reapplying oil. And using a stainless steel trowel to spread the hardwax oil onto the surface of your hardwood floors. Regular wax applications nourish the wood and make the surface even stronger over time.
When well maintained it looks good over time. After applying maintenance oil you will notice a change in sheen level. Stir contents thoroughly before and during use and apply in a warm well ventilated room. I would recommend not to use osmo if you cannot find an experienced guy though.
Floors finished with hard wax oil do require a periodic coat of maintenance oil. Suits floors with under floor heating. Apply a thin even coat avoid leaving heavy lines and puddles. When you ve used up your first batch of wax apply more to the cloth or to the floor until you ve covered the entire room.
However the floor will return to its original gloss level after a few days. How hard wax oil should be applied depends on the brand of product but there are few standard procedures which always apply. Let the first coat dry which can take anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour. Then this product will be ideal for you.
For that reason it requires a fairly open grain to accept the oil and whilst being applied it is necessary to work the product into the wood. If you want to use any oil on your floor but especially a wax oil it is recommended to sand the floor with a 150 grit sandpaper or coarser. Ideally you would oil your entire floor every year but this isn t always practical. Apply thinly using fiddes floor oil brush or a good quality bristle or synthetic brush and lay evenly following the direction of the grain. All it takes is buff the hardwood with a maroon pad vacuum and then apply the poly.
