Angus suttie ceramics artist. Angus suttie 1948 1993 was one of the most original and sensitive ceramists of the 1980s producing surreal and richly ambiguous forms that moved well away from the familiar connotations of much sculptural as well as functional work at that time. Born 1946 tealing near dundee scotland. Although his work sometimes has an ironic and even playful edge he was deeply thoughtful about its humanist intentions and the references are present not just for play but for critical sometimes political provocation. Born in scotland he was educated at the camberwell school of art in london at a time when the faculty and students there were leading british ceramics into a new direction.
